In short

  • Residential pool of 115M+ IPs across 195+ locations, per the provider's figures.
  • Targeting down to city, ZIP code and ASN level, not just country.
  • Rotating and sticky sessions, with sticky IPs held for up to 30 minutes.
  • The 3-day free trial and the 14-day money-back option are mutually exclusive; using the trial removes refund eligibility.
  • Refunds are limited to a first purchase, need a request within 14 calendar days, and are capped at under 20% of a residential plan's traffic or under 10% of an Enterprise plan's.

The rest of it below.

I picked this provider up because of a naming problem: it is the company formerly known as Smartproxy, which officially became Decodo in April 2025, and I wanted to see whether the rebrand changed anything underneath. The job I had in mind was a moderate scrape that needed city and ZIP-level exits rather than one national pool. Everything below comes from the provider's own pages: pool sizes, latency, success rates and ratings are its published figures, not something I measured myself, and I have not run benchmarks against the network.

What it is best for

Decodo sells residential bandwidth by the gigabyte, with the granularity that matters when a target decides access on where the request comes from. The provider lists continent, country, state, city, ZIP code and ASN-level targeting, and it exposes both rotating and sticky sessions. For a scraper that has to hit a local storefront in one city while holding the same exit for a checkout flow, that combination is the whole product.

It is also a reasonable fit for teams that want the proxy and the scraping tooling from one vendor. There is a web data API, a site unblocker and a browser extension alongside the raw endpoints, and the SDK and framework integrations mean you are not hand-rolling a client from scratch. Data collection at country or city level, ad verification, and automation pipelines that already live in n8n or LangChain are the obvious landing spots.

Which purchase path makes sense for a small or occasional residential job?

Answers: 4

๐Ÿ’ณ Pay As You Go is the smallest commitment: $4 + VAT per gigabyte, no monthly subscription, and 1 GB can be bought at a time. For a one-off job it is the only option on the page that does not tie you to a billing cycle.

๐Ÿ“† The Regular 3 GB plan is $11.25 + VAT, or $3.75/GB, billed monthly. That is cheaper per gigabyte than Pay As You Go, but it commits the account to a monthly cycle, and the plan already paid for runs to the end of the cycle if you cancel.

๐ŸŽ The 3-day trial gives 100 MB, which is enough to check whether a target behaves as expected. The provider states the plan activates automatically afterwards and that the 14-day money-back option no longer applies once the trial has been used.

๐Ÿงช For API-shaped work rather than raw proxy traffic, the Web Data API starter plan includes $5 in testing credits covering up to 10k requests, with no credit card required.

What I liked

  • Depth where the IPs are. The provider quotes 125M+ IPs in total and 115M+ residential IPs across 195+ locations. Country figures are published for several markets: the United States at 16M+, India at 11M+, Germany at 5.6M+, the United Kingdom at 5M+, France at 4.6M+, Spain at 3.7M+, Canada at 3M+, Italy at 2M+, Australia at 1M+ and the Netherlands at 870K+. Those are its claims, but publishing per-country numbers at all is a better sign than a single global headline figure.
  • Sticky sessions up to 30 minutes. Rotate IPs per request, or hold one for up to half an hour. That is the setting I reach for most often on account-based targets.
  • Both protocols. HTTP(S) and SOCKS5, so older scrapers that only speak SOCKS5 are not locked out.
  • Free entry points that do not ask for a card. A 3-day, 100 MB proxy trial for new users, and a Web Data API starter plan with $5 of testing credits covering up to 10,000 requests, no card required.
  • Payment spread. Cards, PayPal, Alipay, Google Pay, Apple Pay and wallet credits, with cryptocurrency accepted for everything except ISP proxies and the pay-per-IP datacenter option. Paddle handles reseller duties as merchant of record.
  • Declared performance is specific. The provider claims 99.99% uptime, sub-0.2s response times generally, under 0.5s average on residential and a 99.92% success rate on residential. I did not verify any of those, but at least the numbers are stated rather than left vague.

What I didn't

  • The trial and the guarantee cancel each other out. The money-back option runs 14 days, but the provider states it does not apply if you have used the 3-day free trial. You get one or the other, not both. I would not call a 100 MB trial a way of testing a real workload either; it confirms your credentials work and not much more.
  • The refund window has narrow conditions. First purchase only, request within 14 calendar days, account not suspended, no chargeback on record, and you must have used under 20% of a regular residential plan's traffic or under 10% of an Enterprise plan's. It covers self-service products only. Read that before you buy, not after.
  • Pay as you go is fenced off. At $4/GB it is wallet-only, sold one gigabyte at a time, and it cannot be combined with a monthly subscription plan. If you run a plan and want to top up for a busy week, that is not the mechanism.
  • Fraud score comparisons need context. The provider quotes an average fraud score of 45.57 for the Global pool against 32.72 for its own pool. Lower is better and the comparison favours them, but the pages do not say which scoring service produced the figures.
  • The old name is a phishing risk. The provider states that Smartproxy.org is an impersonator with no connection to the company, and that the official site is Decodo.com. Anyone still searching the old brand needs to know that.
  • One product has no price. High-Speed Proxies are listed as price on request, which usually means a sales conversation.

The products

Eleven products are listed. The figures below are the provider's starting prices, not quotes:

  • Residential Proxies — from $2/GB, the bandwidth product most people come for.
  • Mobile Proxies — from $2.25/GB.
  • Static residential proxies (ISP Proxies) — from $0.27/IP.
  • Datacenter Proxies — from $0.02/IP.
  • Web Data API — from $0.15 per 1K requests.
  • Site Unblocker — from $0.95 per 1K requests.
  • Video Downloader — from $0.08/GB.
  • High-Speed Proxies — price on request.
  • Chrome Proxy Extension, Firefox Add-on, Proxy Checker — free.

Datacenter at $0.02/IP and static residential at $0.27/IP sit at very different budgets from the residential pool, so the entry decision is really about which traffic type you need rather than which tier you can afford.

How to get started

Sign up, then choose between the 3-day, 100 MB proxy trial and a paid plan, remembering that taking the trial rules out the money-back option later. For the Web Data API the path is easier: the free starter plan with $5 in credits covers up to 10,000 requests and does not need a card. From there you set targeting (country, state, city, ZIP or ASN), choose rotating or sticky sessions, and point your client at the endpoint with HTTP(S) or SOCKS5 credentials.

Integrations

The integration list is long. There are Python and TypeScript SDKs, an MCP server, a CLI and Agent Skills, plus n8n, LangChain, LlamaIndex and OpenClaw for automation work. On the browser side: Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, the Decodo Chrome and Firefox extensions, FoxyProxy, Insomniac and SwitchyOmega, with iPhone and Android covered as well. The provider counts 50+ browsers, scrapers, anti-detect tools, AI integrations, bots and mobile apps in total.

Practically, that means an existing pipeline built on LangChain or an n8n workflow does not need a custom connector, and a desktop scraping setup can be pointed at the endpoint through an extension you probably already run.

Usability

Two things stand out on the practical side. First, the free tooling — a proxy checker plus browser extensions — lets you confirm an endpoint works before wiring it into anything. Second, session control is a per-request choice rather than an account-wide setting, so one project can mix rotating and sticky traffic without buying a second subscription.

Subscriptions can be cancelled or upgraded at the next billing cycle, and the provider states the plan you have already paid for remains yours until that cycle ends. That is fairer than cutting access the moment you cancel.

Pricing

Residential pricing is bandwidth-based and billed monthly, with totals shown excluding VAT. The published plan prices come to the following:

  • 3 GB — $11.25 plus VAT, which works out at $3.75/GB.
  • 10 GB — $35 plus VAT ($3.50/GB).
  • 25 GB — $81.25 plus VAT ($3.25/GB).
  • 50 GB — $150 plus VAT ($3/GB).
  • 100 GB — $275 plus VAT ($2.75/GB).
  • Pay as you go — $4/GB, wallet only, one GB at a time, and it cannot be combined with a monthly subscription plan.
  • Enterprise — from $2.50/GB at 250 GB, down to $2/GB at 1 TB.

The per-gigabyte rate falls steadily as volume rises, and the provider advertises residential from $2/GB overall. The smallest plan is the most expensive per GB, and pay as you go is the highest rate on the sheet.

Customer service

The provider lists 24/7 tech support, live chat, and FAQ and help documentation. The refund policy is the one place where the paperwork is unusually explicit, and it is worth reading in full before you buy rather than treating it as boilerplate.

What stood out

In its favour

  • Residential pool of 115M+ IPs across 195+ locations, per the provider's figures.
  • Targeting down to city, ZIP code and ASN level, not just country.
  • Rotating and sticky sessions, with sticky IPs held for up to 30 minutes.
  • HTTP(S) and SOCKS5 support, so older SOCKS5-only clients still work.
  • Free entry: a 3-day, 100 MB proxy trial and a Web Data API starter plan with $5 in credits and no card.
  • SDKs, MCP, CLI, n8n, LangChain and LlamaIndex integrations, plus 50+ browser and tool integrations.
  • Eleven products, from datacenter IPs at $0.02/IP to a web data API at $0.15 per 1K requests.
  • 24/7 tech support with live chat and help documentation.
  • Payments by card, PayPal, Alipay, Google Pay, Apple Pay and crypto, with wallet credits available.
  • Cancellation or upgrade takes effect at the next billing cycle, and the paid plan stays active until then.

Against it

  • The 3-day free trial and the 14-day money-back option are mutually exclusive; using the trial removes refund eligibility.
  • Refunds are limited to a first purchase, need a request within 14 calendar days, and are capped at under 20% of a residential plan's traffic or under 10% of an Enterprise plan's.
  • Pay as you go at $4/GB is wallet-only, sold one gigabyte at a time and cannot be combined with a monthly subscription.
  • Only self-service products fall under the money-back option.
  • The fraud-score comparison does not name the scoring service behind the numbers.
  • High-Speed Proxies carry no published price.

Our verdict

Buy Decodo if you need residential traffic with city, ZIP or ASN targeting and you want SDKs and automation integrations from the same vendor. Buy it if you can commit to a plan size, because the per-gigabyte rate drops from $3.75 at 3 GB to $2.75 at 100 GB and the pay-as-you-go route is the most expensive on the sheet. Do not rely on stacking the 3-day trial and the 14-day money-back option, because the provider says using one cancels the other, and do not expect a refund after a heavy month given the usage caps. If you only need a handful of static IPs, the datacenter and ISP products are the cheaper conversation.
